Shipyard Plantation is located on the south end of the island. It has two gated security entrances. Shipyard has a beach club for use of its owners and their guests. There are bike paths through out the plantation.

The Shipyard Golf Club is a public 27 hole championship golf course and was a host to a PGA Senior Tour Tournament. Shipyard is home to the Crowne Plaza Resort Hotel and the Shipyard Van der Meer Tennis Center. Shipyard is conveniently located to shopping, entertainment, restaurants, and all of the amenities the south end has to offer.
